Seed imaging workshop June 3rd and 4th

We had a pleasure to organize a two-day seed imaging and quality assessment workshop in Oulu and Suonenjoki for our quests from Norway and Finland, in the middle of Finnish summer. On the first day we had a presentation of LUKE seed laboratory in Suonenjoki, by Dr Katri Himanen. It was great to see how research is being done to improve the quality of seeds and forests. Next morning we demonstrated seed imaging in practice at Innomentarium premises using new SeediX microfocus x-ray imaging cabinet and workstation software developed by the company. In the afternoon we had the opportunity to visit University of Oulu to learn about machine vision and AI research, introduced by prof. Miguel Bordallo Lopez. At the end of the day prof. Soile Jokipii-Lukkari organized for us an introduction to plant and genetic research in the laboratory of the Faculty of Biology.

Big and warm thanks to LUKE, University of Oulu and all the participants to made this happen!
