This month, there was the first scientific publication involving Innomentarium’s cooperation with academia for soft tissue imaging research with a poster at the 5th European Congress of Medical Physics. Focus areas of the conference included novel radiobiology concepts, artificial intelligence and new medical imaging techniques.
The title of the poster was “DIGITAL CONTRAST ENHANCEMENT FOR SOFT TISSUE IMAGING” presented by S. Behrouzi and co-authored by A. Fylakis, C.T.M. Eneh and T. Seppänen. The research work was part of Mrs Behrouzi’s Master thesis done at the University of Oulu in cooperation with Innomentarium where she completed her internship. Innomentarium provided the equipment and software support for this research.
The results were valuable in the development process of the soft tissue imaging post processing techniques used in imaging software. The poster evaluated contrast enhancement techniques in soft-tissue imaging and introduced a novelty of improving them by using a Just-Noticeable-Distortion Model based on how the Human Visual System perceives the image.
