Head of R&D at Innomentarium, Dr. Angelos Fylakis, gave a lecture on novel x-ray imaging technologies for seed quality assessment at the ISTA workshop meeting, held in Buenos Aires on October 20–22. The lecture consists of novel methods based on microfocus x-ray imaging and machine vision analysis.
The method developed by Innomentarium can detect hidden defects inside seeds and classify them in different categories. Studies has been done also on finding correlations between seed images and germination. Collaboration with Finnish experts, including researchers from the Natural Resources Institute Finland (Luke), the Finnish Food Authority and the Ecology and Genetics Research Unit at the University of Oulu, has been important and brought us a multidisciplinary perspective from the field of plant sciences.
Innomentarium’s SeediX solution was launched on the market during the summer of 2026 after the years of product development. Solution consists of unique microfocus x-ray cabinet and workstation software tailored for seed imaging, analysis tools for seed quality assessment based on machine vision techniques and AI algorithms. The solution has been welcomed by our customers. Next show for the solution will be at the Euroseed Congress, held in Valencia, Spain on 25-28 October.
